Studying Abroad in Bali, Indonesia

Hello! I have been accepted to study Arts and Social Change in Bali, Indonesia this Fall! During the program, I will be living in homestays, learning Bahasa Indonesia (language), and taking seminars in Arts, Religion, and Social Change, and Field work methods. In the final month, I will be carrying out an independent field work project combining ethnographic research and community organized performance for cultural preservation and political reform. This is a pivotal experience that will equip me with the performative and cultural practice necessary to use theatre as a tool for political liberation. Upon return to the US, I will collaborate with Anakbayan NJ, a grassroots Filipino advocacy group, spearheading community projects to overcome diaspora in the Phillipines and immigrant communities in the larger New York City area.

Now, why a Go Fund Me campaign, you ask? My tuition is $17,010 and I have already raised $11,490 to get to Bali! I still have about $5,000 to raise and donations are necessary to facilitate a life-changing experience that benefits our shared communities-- this project in it's beginning stages affects Filipinos, but will ultimately address many oppressed groups.
