Surgery for beloved Lucy

Anyone who knows my mother, Cyndy Coleman Marshall, knows she is one to never ask for help. Well I am asking for her now, because I know she will not: and I know "we" can help. Her beloved and best friend Lucy, a cow dog extraordinaire, now retired due to my mother being a fulltime 24/7 sole caregiver of 99 year old Ansel Marshall, needs an emergency surgery to repair two collapsed discs in her back.
Lucy is only 6 years old and with her back repaired, has a long life ahead of her. Three weeks ago she was vibrant and very healthy, she went missing and was found 5 days later: At first her back injury was not apparent, other than she was weak, obviously had been off of food and water for five days. Each day she got worse, Mom and the local vet tried for two weeks to treat her with cage rest, narcotics and muscle relaxers, but she was only getting worse and the pain and muscle spasms she was enduring were not controllable. Today Mom made the decision to take her to OSU Vet School in Corvallis. Turns out she has two ruptured disks requiring immediate surgery. She will also need 3-5 days inpatient care at OSU, followed by several weeks of cage rest at home.

Mom believes that Lucy chased a deer off the property, and the deer may have had a fawn and charged Lucy back and striking or pawing her with it's front hooves on the back.

My mom has been caring for Ansel for 9 years now, with the last two years progressing to 24/7 full care with only Ansel's SS income to live on. She has been doing her best to honor his wishes to live out his days at home. With this load on my Mom, words can't describe the bond between Lucy and my Mom, she (Lucy) is what gets her through each day. Mom and Lucy are the definition of best friends and their love for each other is never ending. Would you please help with Lucy's medical bills with donation of any size?
