Help Send Skyler to Semperoper Ballet

My name is Skyler Maxey-Wert. I am 18 years old and currently a member of the American Ballet Theatre Studio Company.
I am originally from Lancaster, PA, but I have been living in New York City for the past five years. I come from a family of movers, so growing up I was involved in all kinds of dance. I studied jazz, tap, modern, ballet, and a Brazilian Martial art called Capoeira. Because of this, my parents were extremely supportive of my dancing. My family was not able to pay for my dance lessons out of pocket, and my studio could not offer much financial aid to students, so my father would clean the studios where I danced and my teachers house as payment for my lessons.
When I was 13, I came to the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theatre to fulfill my dream of becoming a professional dancer. Fortunately, I was able to receive a full scholarship during my four years at the school. This took a huge financial pressure off of my parents. Now I am in my first year in the ABT Studio Company, and it has helped me grow immensely as a dancer and artist.
I have recently been given the opportunity to join the Dresden Semperoper Ballett as an apprentice for the 2014-15 season, and I am completely overjoyed. I know I will be able to learn so much here and become the dancer that I want to be.
I am also looking forward to attending the Nederlands Dans Theater summer intensive for a second time. My first experience at this intensive was incredible. I grew and learned so much from it and expanded my dance vocabulary, adding to my dancing and choreography.
Although I want to attend this summer intensive and go to Dresden, the travel expenses from the U.S., to Holland, and then to Dresden is very expensive. I will be leaving to Holland the last week in July, and I start with the Semperoper Ballet in Dresden September 1st. My goal is to raise at least $2,000 to pay for this trip.
