Double Lung Transplant

Donation protected
Thank you for taking the time to visit this fund page, which has been established for The Leal family; Daniel, his wife Janeen and young daughter Jadyn by his immediate family.

We, as a family, first and foremost want to thank all of our family, friends, and loved ones for your support and prayers during what has been yet again another trying time in our lives.
Many of you have reached out to us asking “how can we help” and “how can we help eliminate some of the burden Janeen and the family are facing”. First and most importantly, we ask that you please continue to think of the Leal family, keep them in your thoughts, say a prayer and, only if you are able, please help us through a contribution to this fund.

As many of you know, Daniel has been battling health struggles for 6 years, but once his wife was diagnosed with cancer, he put his unknown health issues aside to help her beat stage 3 cancer. Well last month, pneumonia caused him to be admitted into the hospital where he learned his lungs are no longer functioning on their own leading to the need for a double lung transplant. He went from living a normal life where he loved taking a 2 mile walk with his wife every morning, fishing, volunteering with his church family to help in work, clean up, church events, etc. to now he is on a constant oxygen feed of 40 liters per minute and has been admitted into the hospital as it is the only way of keeping him stable. He will stay in the hospital until lungs become available and he is strong enough to undergo the surgery.

The money we are in need of for the Leal family is needed for post transplant. Having a transplant is not as easy as just putting in new lungs. The after care is the MOST important part. Rejection is the main thing to watch out for. As of now, he is waiting... hoping for the proper donor to become available. Thats a very hard thing to do. When the call comes he will undergo a 10-12 hr operation. When released he  will have to stay near the hospital for a minimum of 3 months for therapy, clinics and safety precautions. Not many surgeries are as complicated and dangerous as a lung transplant.
At least one person will need to stay with him constantly to watch over him, as he will need 24hr care. They will need funding for hotels, food, bills back home in Arcadia (so they have a home to go home to when he is well), and other expenses.

Since his health struggles first began it has been a constant fight, which he has fought like a true warrior with never ending faith in the Lord to get through it all with his amazing wife and youngest daughter by his side, even through “worse case scenarios”.
Daniel doesn't ask for help but when you can no longer breathe you can not work, go to school or provide very well for your family, so we have created this gofundme page in hopes of lifting the financial burden off of him and Janeen so they can focus on Daniel and his health.

We thank you in advance and will be sure to update as new information becomes available. Prayer works and he needs your prayers!

"It's like taking a beautiful gold ring and dropping it into a smelting pot.. As the ring melts, it is being refined. The remains of the ring are being purified.... And then, you make the same ring, you put the remains into the same mold.. And you make the same ring... only.... this one is refined, and much more beautiful than the first one. But it is a process, the refining is a process. And as of now, I am being refined..." - Daniel P. Lea'l    2017
