On September 18th close friends of ours received the news that their sweet 4 year old son Raymond has type I diabetes. The journey in learning of his diagnosis was terrifying. What started as just another Sunday ended with a doctors appointment followed by a terrifying phone call at night saying to take Raymond to the ER immediately. It was there that it became known that Raymond's blood sugar was 839, dangerously high. He was transported by ambulance to the pediatric ICU in Fairfax where he spent the next two days. He spent 4 days total in the hospital. Raymond and his family are now at home trying to adjust to this new way of life. Finger pricks, counting carbs, insulin injections. His parents are doing the absolute best they can but the financial burden is a heavy one. Raymond's mom has quit her job to stay at home with Raymond so that she can ensure his blood sugar, insulin injections and diet are being closely monitored. Raymond's dad Jay already works 7 days a week. Raymond's medications are $400/ month. This is in addition to the medical bills for the ER visit, ambulance transport and ICU stay. I'm reaching out to ask for support. Anything is welcome and greatly appreciated. I know this family would be so grateful for any donations, prayers or assistance that you may be able to offer. They do not know that a GoFundMe page is being made for them. Please keep Raymond and his family in your thoughts. Thanks you so much!
