Thomas's Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Tear drops grace my cheeks, as my heart is breaking. Breaking, slowly and painfully, the very air I breathe becomes too thick to gasp. This is the most challenging experience I have ever experienced. This, having to write such a plea for help is not something I would ever bestow upon another. Never, I say, never. The worst of all news has poisoned my ears. The type of news that brings one to their knees, news that devastates family and friends. News, which you know will change your life forever. Life as I know it will never again be the same. My big brother Thomas has Brain cancer. But, before I go into the full details I would like to share with you a bit about my big brother.

Thomas is 31 years old. He just started to get his life together after college working for the New York school board of education as a computer technician. He is a computer genius, unlike me who is already frustrated after only a few minutes trying to accomplish anything on the computer. He is popular amongst coworkers, family and friends. He is the type guy you would be blessed to have a part of your world and completely envious if you didn’t. He is a mentor to those he works with, an amazing son to my parents, a supportive brother and a super fun uncle to his nieces and nephews. He has a kind and gentle soul full of compassion and empathy. He is very knowledgably and intelligent. He is a video game aficionado, movie line expert, amusement park lover, and a friend of all friends. Therefore, it pains me so much. He is one of the good guys. Why do bad things happen to good people? It makes me question our very existence. I just don’t understand, with that being said, I need your help. Thomas is in for the long haul and has decided to fight this dreadful curse of a disease. With zero family history, it has come completely unexpectedly.

In December of 2016 Thomas started having headaches. Being the stoic guy he is, never complaining about much, the pain was unbearable for him so we knew something was wrong.   After many exhaustive trips to doctors and specialists, after many diagnostic tests that were scary and sometimes painful, it was found that Thomas had tumors in his brain. He underwent brain surgery just two weeks ago, Although the surgery was successful the tumors were removed we waited in anticipation to what the biopsy would tell us of his fate. On Wednesday, we got the news that yes, the tumors were fast growing malignant. He was diagnosed with stage 4 Brain Cancer.

I cannot accurately express just how crushed I am. Thomas now must receive chemotherapy and radiation. He must undergo consistent diagnostic testing. He will require very expensive medication. Thomas is currently on short term disability from his job receiving only a 1/3 salary and although he does have insurance, the copayments for chemotherapy, radiation, diagnostic testing and medications are very expensive. We as a family, are doing all we can but it’s simply not enough.  It’s very difficult to ask people for money to help save my brother’s life. An experience I would have never imagined I’d have to endure, but here I am asking you to please donate to help us help him. I understand we live in challenging times and most of us are barely making ends meet. I, myself work more than one job. But, every little bit helps, even if it’s only a dollar, two, five, ten. It all adds up to give Thomas the care he needs.  You can donate anonymously. If you find that you are unable to help us financially, I humbly ask you to share this page daily, multiple times a day. You never know who is out there willing to help. I still have much faith in humanity and pray that we can all come together to help my brother. I thank you for your time in reading my post.
