Bring Isis Home

Isis is a sweet and shy mastiff who came into the care of the Great Plains Mastiff Rescue because she was malnourished and neglected.  She did well in her foster homes -- first in her temporary/emergency foster home, and then for a couple of wonderful months with us.  We all adore her, but we knew that fostering is only temporary, so we were prepared to say goodbye.  On April 5, a new adoptive family drove from Topeka to Tulsa to pick her up and make her part of their family.

Unfortunately, when they stopped for a potty break in Bartlesville -- about an hour away -- she got loose and bolted.  There have been a few sightings, decreasing in frequency.  Her intended adoptive family had to return to Topeka without her.  I'm desperate to find her, and so I have been trying to manage a search from an hour away.  The rescue community has come through like champions, but we've still not found her.  She is afraid, and has run off whenever anyone has approached her.

I've called Karin TarQwyn, a nationally known expert on finding and recovering lost dogs who are fearful of people.  Her website is http://www.k9pi.com/.  Turns out a lot of the things people do to find dogs -- going through the woods calling for them, leaving food stations, etc. -- are counterproductive for fearful/shy dogs.  (Whoops.)  But happily, Karin is skilled at recovering dogs in exactly these situations, she can turn signs around quickly, and she is able to send in a team of trained tracking dogs with a professional handler.

So, this GoFundMe is to raise money to hire her, produce the signs she recommends, and (if necessary) bring in the tracking team with their handler and cover their lodging and fees.  If there is money remaining at the conclusion of the search, I will donate it to the animal rescue groups that have assisted in the search.
