Katlyn's medical expenses

Katlyn Michelle was born on May 8th 1990 to John and Carol Velliquette. She was diagnosed with kidney disease in January 2004 at the age of 13 and immediately was placed on high dose steroids. By 2005, she was told she had avascular necrosis of both hips, that started to collapse due to all of the steroid exposure. More & more body pain would occur, making it hard to walk or even pick up a cup on her own. She had to leave school for half a year because of the pain. She was in remission until 2007 & was then forced to drop out because of the pain & keeping up with school was too hard. In 2009, she was admitted to the hospital for 8 days due to severe anemia and was officially diagnosed with lupus nephritis. During a flare the main concern is her kidneys. She was told she needed chemo or there was one last medicine they could try... that medicine worked until now. Now, in 2014, with her kidney disease at a level 4 lupus nephritis chemo is her only option to keep her kidneys from going to level 5 which is failure & dialysis.
