At 18 weeks gestation we first got the news that Andrew was going to be born with a life threatening heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. He would be born with half a heart. The left side did not grow. We then learned he would face a series of three open heart surgeries in order to survive after birth.
Andrew was born July 2014 and His first major open heart surgery took place three days after birth. Our first stay was a month in the hospital and when released we were told he was still in critical state until we could get him big enough for his next open heart surgery around 4 months of age (November 2014). Since our initial release Andrew has been airlifted back to the hospital and emergency transported numerous times with two unplanned heart procedures that saved his life, and numerous other week long plus stays for other issues related to his condition. All for a total of 5-6 stays being 9 weeks of his 14 weeks of life. We are facing another upcoming surgery in just a few weeks away and are trying to prepare best we can. It's never easy trying to prepare for something so major like this, and turning your little one over to surgeons again.
A sweet friend first created this page for financial support for Team Andrew to help make these surgeries and hospitalizations a little less stressful. Medical bills and constant trips to the hospital are unfortunately an overwhelming factor always to any family with a heart warrior. Our little warrior is worth every penny we spend, but those have quickly added up over the past few months. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Above all, please keep Team Andrew in your prayers, especially our little heart warrior. He has put up a long hard fight since birth and we are so very proud of all he's overcome. God has carried our little miracle through many illnesses and procedures. We definitely give God all our praise and thanks for Andrew still being with us to this day. Thank you so very much from Team Andrew and all of our supporters. This journey has been hard on so many, especially our little warrior, but God and all of our supporters continue to give us strength and support that we will never be able to say thank you enough for.
