85 Cats Depend on Me Every Single Day
For those who don’t know me, my name is Bee and I run PAWS Adoption By BEE, an independent rescue dedicated to saving the cats nobody else wants.
Today, 85 rescued cats depend on me for their survival.
That number is the highest it has ever been.
- Some were abused.
- Some were abandoned.
- Some were dumped and never reclaimed.
- Some were left behind when their owners passed away.
- Some were taped inside boxes and left out for council collection.
- Some were surrendered to veterinary clinics to be euthanised simply because nobody wanted them anymore.
Others live with disabilities, Gingivitis, Stomatitis, or lifelong medical conditions that made them “too hard” for someone else to keep.
I couldn’t turn my back on them.
Instead, I turned my home into a sanctuary.
With permission from my realtor, I transformed my home into a safe haven where cats can recover, heal, feel secure, and have a second chance at life. I even took out personal loans to build suitable spaces and provide the environment they needed to survive.
Every room, enclosure, and safe space was created for one reason — to save lives.
Many of these cats would not be here today if someone hadn’t stepped in.
That someone became me.
While many cats eventually find loving homes, others may remain with me for the rest of their lives due to age, disability, or ongoing medical needs. Regardless of their circumstances, every cat deserves safety, dignity, and love.
The reality is that caring for 85 cats comes with enormous ongoing costs.
What Feeding 85 Cats Actually Looks Like
Many people ask how food costs can reach around $5,000 every month. The reality is that feeding 85 rescue cats adds up very quickly.
Every month I go through approximately:
4 x 20kg bags of Advance Dry Food — $569.96
4 x 11kg bags of Kirkland Dry Food — $217.96
4 x 8kg bags of Kirkland Salmon Dry Food — $100.00
96 cans of wet food every single day — approximately $3,715.20 per month
Additional kitten food, senior food, and special dietary food for medical cats — $300+ per month
Food alone totals approximately $4,900–$5,000 every month.
That figure does not include litter, flea and worm treatments, vaccinations, desexing, emergency veterinary care, medications, dental procedures, or the monthly injections needed for cats suffering from Gingivitis and Stomatitis.
Currently, 15 cats in my care require ongoing treatment and monthly injections to manage severe Gingivitis and Stomatitis, helping keep them comfortable and pain-free.
Fundraising Goal: $10,000
My goal is to raise $10,000, which would provide approximately two months of food security and allow me to focus on the cats requiring urgent medical treatment, dentals, medications, and ongoing veterinary care.
Where the Funds Will Go
Food for rescue and colony cats
Veterinary care and emergency treatment
Vaccinations and preventative healthcare
Medications and monthly injections
Dental procedures and treatment for cats suffering from Gingivitis and Stomatitis
Flea and worm treatments
Care for senior, disabled, and special-needs cats
Every dollar raised goes directly back into the rescue and the cats who rely on it.
Because of this rescue:
❤️ Cats receive life-saving medical care.
❤️ Disabled and injured cats are given safety and dignity.
❤️ Kittens are saved from a life on the streets.
❤️ Friendly cats are given the opportunity to find loving forever homes.
❤️ Senior and special-needs cats are given a chance when nobody else will help them.
I fund the majority of this rescue myself while also working, but caring for 85 cats is far beyond what one person can sustain financially alone.
If you can donate, no matter how small the amount, it will help keep food in bowls, medications available, and veterinary care accessible for the cats who need it most.
If you’re unable to donate, there are other ways you can help.
You are welcome to send supplies directly through my Amazon Wishlist. Food, litter, flea and worm treatments, cleaning supplies, kitten food, and other essential items are always greatly appreciated and go straight towards caring for the 85 cats who depend on this rescue every day.
Amazon Wishlist:
If you’re unable to donate or send supplies, simply sharing this fundraiser can help it reach someone who can.
Every share, donation, and item sent makes a difference and helps keep this sanctuary running.
Together, we can continue protecting the 85 lives that depend on this sanctuary every single day.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for supporting PAWS Adoption By BEE and standing beside the cats who have no voice.
With gratitude,
Bee
