Fishing for Funds

Tax deductible
If you’ve ever enjoyed playing in or around a creek you’ll understand why the members of Mud Run Conservancy (MRC) in Clark County, Ohio are “Fishing for Funds” to protect the main waterway in our township. You wouldn’t know by its name, Mud Run, that the creek is beautiful and winding, flowing 12 miles from it’s spring fed headwaters to it’s mouth at the Mad River. Along the way it gains water from small streams and wetlands and supports numerous species of fish, wildlife and birds. Patch worked with farmland and ever growing population centers, our small corner of southwest Ohio is rather unique with it’s rocky ravines, small waterfalls and precious fens.

Mud Run helps replenish the Great Miami Buried Valley Aquifer which was designated a Sole Source Aquifer in May of 1988. This aquifer serves as the sole source of drinking water for most of southwest Ohio including the entire Dayton region and surrounding areas. Once contaminated there’s no way to decontaminate an aquifer!

MRC’s mission is to protect the watershed, waterways and hundreds of homeowner wells from any threats, including nearby industrialization. Organized as a 501(c)(3) in 2018 with funding from private donations and the Springfield Foundation. MRC has all volunteer, citizen members. Active at local, state and national levels the members have spoken at legislative events, provided education on waterways and wetlands and involved 700+ local elementary school students in choosing names for two of Mud Run’s unnamed tributaries. This fall environmental specialists will sample the fish and macroinvertebrates* in Mud Run and delineate the boundaries of eight acres of wetlands.

We need your donation to continue our efforts to provide education, involve the community and hire environmental experts. We invite you to learn more about Mud Run Conservancy at our website (https://mudrunconservancy.org/) and at the Mud Run Conservancy Facebook page.

Thank you in advance for your donation and remember that every penny donated to MRC goes directly to protecting Mud Run, the tributaries and the watershed.
