Kick Cancer’s Ass

Donation protected
Kasey’s dad (John) went to the hospital on Saturday 11/4/17. He was feeling fatigued and after a blood test showed his platelet count at 10 (it’s supposed to be about 350-400) he was sent to the ER. They ran a blood test at the emergency room that showed his platelet, red blood cell counts, and white blood cell counts all to be dangerously low. The doctor was shocked he was even able to stand. He was admitted to the hospital and given blood and platelet transfusions.

The next day, on Sunday 11/5/17, they did a bone marrow biopsy and found that he has B-cell Acute Lympoblastic Leukemia. Further testing showed that he does NOT have the Philadelphia chromosome.

Soon thereafter he started chemotherapy. Because he does not have the Philadelphia chromosome he did not need a bone marrow transplant.

It has now been over 2 months since John was diagnosed with cancer. Luckily he was released from the hospital the week before Christmas so he did get to spend some of the holidays at home. He is now going to the hospital almost every day for his second round of chemotherapy.

Over the past three months the medical bills have started to accumulate as John has been out of work during his treatment period. In addition, although he has medical insurance through his work, it is a very basic plan with an astronomical out-of-pocket minimum.

Any help, whether financial or otherwise, is very much appreciated.

We are all pulling for a complete remission but, as everybody knows, cancer is an unforgiving beast. Let’s come together to support John and his family and kick cancer’s ass!
