Summer Camp UNITY for Ukrainian children

This camp is an English-language summer camp for Ukrainian youth, which is focused on upbringing the future leaders of Ukraine. Camp UNITY is a unique opportunity for Ukrainian students (aged 12-18) to blend the traditional summer camp experience with educational lessons that aim to increase multicultural awareness and tolerance.
Over the course of the week, the counselors teach a series of lessons about multiculturalism, human rights, tolerance and discrimination. Also taught are lessons on leadership, volunteerism, human trafficking, and many other interesting topics. During the camp there will be one day devoted to the issues of HIV/AIDS. On this day there will be the lessons about the biology and transmission of HIV/AIDS and common stigma and discrimination. The lessens, presentations and workshops on this day will be conducted by certified specialist who are experienced in teaching HIV/AIDS awareness.
Students in this camp not only have a chance to speak English with the students who spent one year living in American family and studying in American school as the winners of FLEX ("Future Leaders Exchange") program , but also with some of the best students that Ukraine has to offer. In addition, they are learning about important global issues and about their roles in becoming global citizens. With these skills, students will take part in different projects and even design their own projects about problems that affect not just Ukraine, but the whole world.
Camp Unity though, is a lot more than just teaching lessons: we play different games and sports in the afternoons and have team activities in the evening. We also have a water balloon fight, a fashion show, a talent show, quiz shows, some "English Movie Nights", singing camp songs, and so much more!
And of course, no summer camp would be complete without some fun in the sun! We have a great time hanging out on the beach for a few hours, playing in the water, throwing a Frisbee or football, photo sessions or just relaxing in the warm sand with new friends.
