Madison's DUKE TIP Summer Studies

My name is Madison Charles and I am a 7th grader at Riverview Middle School in Dawson County, Georgia.  The DUKE Talent Identification Program (DUKE TIP) chose the top academically gifted students in the 7th grade to take the SAT or ACTs. I chose to take the SAT and scored a 1420.  My score was higher than most college bound Seniors.  The students who scored in the top 5% of the 62,000 7th graders that took the ACT or SAT were chosen by DUKE TIP to attend their Summer Studies Program.

I scored in the top 5% nationwide and was chosen to attend the Summer Studies Program. I will be going to Appalachian State University June 8th through June 28th.  I was able to get a financial aid scholarship however, I still have to raise $1,500. 

I am looking foward to furthering my education while being with other students on my intellectual level.  Others who have attended this prestigious program, have stated that they were taught things that they would have never learned with a regular education.  They also stated, that the Summer Studies Program prepared them for college in a way that no regular school system or education could have.
