Dreadlock Extermination

The mass of hair I currently possess I have had for a quarter of my life. Years of sun, saltwater, sand, and masses of curls resulted in a mop of hair that was starting to look like a dead cat/birds nest. So my mother gave me the option of cutting my hair off, or guiding it towards proper dreadlocks. Obviously I went the latter option and the rest is history. Fast forward 5 years and there have been some interesting tales to come out of Nic and his hair, from the many doppelgangers posted on my facebook wall, to being enquired about drugs (more than once), and being asked whether I had them as a result of a longing to be of a darker skin colour. And so we come to today, where I’m announcing that after months of consideration, I’ve sent the eviction notice to my locks of dread. Yep, they’re getting the chop. However, they will not be going quietly. I’ve always said that when this head of hair gets taken to with sharp implements, that it will be for a cause. So I ask that if you: a) love this set of dreadlocks, b) want to see them gone (looking at you nan and pa) or c) are feeling particularly generous, that you consider donating towards me getting these things cut off.

I will be donating all money received to NSW Police Legacy, a cause close to me and my family. This foundation supports bereaved families following the loss of a loved one, as well as police officers and their families experiencing challenging times in their lives.
