Louisa's Summer Ballet

I, Louisa, have recently been accepted to the prestigious University of North Carolina School for the Arts for the five week summer program for dance. I am ecstatic to go; however the cost of tuition, room and board, and other expenses is quite large. With this website I am campaigning to fund my trip. The school's cost is $4,300. I did receive a $500 scholarship which requires me to send in letters of recommendation and an essay. Along with the school costs I will need to pay for airfare, ballet supplies, fees, and meals not included "“ roughly $3,600. For a grand total of $7,400.
I started dancing at the age of two with Pearl Potts, Director of the Children's Dance Program in Santa Fe. This will be my second out of state ballet summer intensive. Last year I attended the Joffrey Ballet summer intensive in New York City for four weeks. Depending on production rehearsals I currently dance five to seven days a week (10 "“ 20 hours/week) as a senior member of the New Mexico Dance Theater Performance Company under Susan Baker-Dillingham. I have performed in five different shows with this studio including the famous "Nutcracker." Before NMDT, I was a member of the Vienna State Opera Ballet School in Vienna, Austria. There I performed in Romeo and Juliet, the Opern Ball, and Tosca in the world-acclaimed Vienna Opera House.
Even though dance is one of my favorite activities "“ and very close to my heart, I partake in others as well. I am a member of the symphonic orchestra at my high school playing the violin, I am President of the Freshman class of 2017, and I am a member of Key Club, a community service program.
