Ellington Escapade Website
The Ellington Escapade is an alternative learning field trip. We provide a hands on learning experience for middle and high school students in urban communities. The purpose of the trip is to expose students to new cultures, US history, community service and performing arts. Throughout the journey, students will explore colleges, branches of government and historical communities of Baltimore. This year we are hoping to take 30 students to Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD . The students invited on this trip are generally from a low income, single parent household. We have 16 students that will need a full or partial scholarship to attend this program.
We are very excited to launch the first "Ellington Escapade: Learn. Serve. Experience." journey for secondary students at Grand Rapids Ellington Academy of Arts and Technology (GREAAT). It is our desire to expose our student artists to the world at large. On this three day, two night adventure, students encounter new cultures, U.S. history, performing arts, college and career readiness, team-building, and leadership development. GREAAT's Mission is to educate and support the development of multi-dimensional learners, who are academically and socially prepared to compete in a global society. We are a performing arts and technology school in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Thank you for visiting this website to learn more about our travels as we experience the world around us. We are GREAAT!
We would be really grateful to raise the funds to send the students on this journey. Many are interested, but discouraged because they know their parents are jot able to afford it. Any donation would be appreciated.
Thank you,
The Ellington Escapade Staff
