Autism - Sensory Integrated Classroom

Over the past several years we have been trying to grow and expand on sensory integration in the classroom. Much like technology integration is important to general ed. sensory integration is extremely important to special ed. Most sensory classrooms designed by leading companies cost upwards of 20,000 dollars. Sesnory integration allows students the ability to understand and access the world around them and move beyond the limits placed upon them.

Our classroom continues to grow each year and with that growth comes more significant needs.  At the present time we have 6 life skills students and 5 transitional students.

Meet Some of Our Kids:

Duncan is currently a Senior at Argyle High School, loves everything music, enjoys playing the piano, spending time with his family and visiting with his friends. Duncan has a rare mitochondrial disease with additioanl diagnosis.  This doesn't slow him down one bit, he comes to our classroom everyday with a smile ready and willing to work!

Shawn is a Senior at Argyle this year and spends a lot of time caring for our Argyle Athletes through the Eagle Moments that Matter Program. Shawn likes to compete with others in puzzle building contests and other building/engineering type activities. Shawn was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at a young age.  Shawn LOVES movement and finds many ways to fill his day with movement of all types.

Chris is currently a Junior at Argyle High School and a very dedicated Argyle Baseball Fan and sports enthusiast. Christopher enjoys all things Texas, Longhorns and sports related. While many might find living with Cerebral Palsy dibilitating, Chris uses it as a gift to charm everyone he meets.  Chris is quite the thrill seeker and enjoys adrenaline rushes, fearless in life Chris conquers roller coasters, riding a bike, and more!

Jose is a student at Argyle Middle School. Jose is an avid bike rider and likes to test his strength by arm wrestling Argyle Coaches and athletes. Jose enjoys deep pressure and pats on the back.  A Temple Grandin squeeze box is something Jose could certainly benefit from.  Jose is also a student diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Callie is a student at Argyle Middle School. Callie participates in many athletic events including karate, cheerleading, basketball, and bowling. Callie enjoys dancing with her friends and attending school social events. Callie lives life to the fullest with Tuberous Sclerosis and learns best through play!

LJ attends Argyle Middle School and is a new Eagle this year. LJ is a computer whiz, enjoys reading and likes to test new culinary cusines. Recently LJ discovered a new love of music and dancing. PE is always something she looks forward to, along with swinging and jumping.  LJ is a student with Autism Spectrum Disorder and can make anyone laugh with her infectious giggle.

Please consider helping these Amazing Children learn in an enviornment that is both engaging and stimulating in the most incredible way.

Thank you,
