Hello,
My name is Becky Lower Sandlin, my sister (Marlana Lower Hamblin) and I are setting this page to help our Dad Randy, aka Santa Claus, with his battle with cancer. About 2 months ago Dad was feeling what we thought was normal. He had to have normal blood work done and well that is when everything took a dramatic turn. Dad's blood work showed some abnormal levels which led to CT scans, which then led to finding out he had two masses of cancer located on his right kidney (renal cell carcinoma). He was then seen by a specialist that informed us of all this and he would need to have his kidney removed asap. Well more tests were ran to make sure he was fit and we found that he had suffered from 2 heart attacks but we weren't for sure when. Needless to say more tests were oredred,CTS , blood work, and stress tests. The CT showed he had a small spot on his right lung. So this led to a biopsy of his lung, that resulted in finding Dad has Small Cell Cancer of his right lung. Kidney surgery was put to a hault due to the type of cancer in his lung being the worst and spreads the fastest. The Dr informed us that he would have to undergo Chemo(12) rounds and 6 weeks of radiation. Well the number of weeks of radiation were then moved up to 7 weeks due to the fact that they only have one shot with the radiation. Needless to say this was such devestating news to our Dad, Mom, and the entire family. We have started this page in hopes of rasisng money to help our Dad and Mom with the ongoing medical expenses for treatments, expenses that have and will occur and the medicines that help him get through this. We are not the type of family to put our life out there for everyone to read, we're just hoping that we can help provide some financial assistance to help out Dad with this long road ahead of him.
Surgery on his kidney has been postponed until the chemo and radiation have been fully done. He will have to wait 7 weeks before we know if the treatments have helped with the lung and if so then they will proceed with surgery to remove his right kidney. We are planning a benefit on April 26,2014 at the Farm Bureau building in Williamstown Ky and would love for everyone to come out and help us show our Dad support in his fight and enjoy some fun events as well. However if you can't make it, we have this page set up to take in donations for him as well. Please share this will all your friends and family and we greatly appreciate any help and prayers you may send our way.
