Help My Dad to Recover

Hello everyone,

My name is Pramila Kumal. I am fundraising for my amazing dad Mr. Prem Bahadur Kumal, father of 4 daughters who has been recently diagnosed with severe COVID Pneumonia and Pulmonary Embolism.

My mom and dad went to one of the renowned public hospital in Kathmandu, Nepal to treat the symptoms of COVID keeping faith that it was just viral. My dad made taxi to wait out of the hospital for them hoping they will return soon. But unfortunately both of my parents tested positive for COVID. Mom had minor symptoms but dad was diagnosed with severe COVID Pneumonia. Both of them were admitted on 7th of September 2021. My sick mom looked after my super sick dad while in hospital.

After 8 days of stay his condition declined and was transferred to Intensive Care Unit. It was hard seeing him gasping for air. However, he smiled and coughed hard, said "look I can cough now- I am fine. They will discharge me soon." We all wished may this happen soon. Our bad, his oxygen dropped and was treated with 60-70% oxygen via non invasive ventilator. He saw people dying on his side and got more panicked. My mom could visit him 2 minutes in 24 hours for emotional support. Once he cried and asked my mom to help to go to toilet, as he waited longer for nurses. I cannot imagine my sick mom helping him to go to toilet and providing emotional support in 2 minutes.

Thus, we decided to transfer him to the private hospital hoping best treatment and mom can isolate and rest at home. They did the HRCT scan, CT pulmonary angiography and diagnosed with Pulmonary Embolism (blood clots in lungs). After 2 days in private hospital, his condition deteriorated both lungs are hugely blocked with blood clots and has been treated in invasive ventilator. Our life changed in an instant and tears over the phones will not change the fact. We have never lose hope on him and will never.

His treatment is prolonged than we thought and is becoming expensive day by day. His medication is continous and our family fund is very limited. We still can't find the medication that has been recommended by doctors. It's all shortage in Nepal. Its availability is in the internet overseas but cannot purchase due to legal terms and condition. The pharmacy has informed us that this medication will be available only in first week of December. We are praying all goes well.

As any percent can imagine the impact of devastation this has had on my family, this GOFUNDME has been set up to help support my dad during this difficult times and help ease the burden of all ongoing medical, pharmaceutical and day to day expenses in and out of the hospital.
