Hurtado Family Fund

Welcome to our Fund Me Page site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated on Urias's Hurtado's progress. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.

On Saturday March 16th Kent and Erica Hurtado's father fell from a ladder approximately 30 feet from the ground. He was taken to Stamford Hospital and has been in the CCU since. He sustained a spinal injury to his c2 and c3. As of today March 26th he shows no movement below his shoulders. The surgeons are hopeful they can fuse his neck within the next few days to minimize any further injury to the spinal cord, but Urias has been running a fever on and off from the beginning so they have not been able to do so yet.

We have created a food site to keep the family going during this trying time. This is the link:

http://www.takethemameal.com/meals.php?t=DPNR3902

If you have not done so yet, please sign up to take them some food, it has proven to be so helpful to Erica who is bringing the meals to the hospital to feed all of them. And by all means pass it on to your friends who are super helpful and generous, it takes a village.

This site is to help the Hurtado's with all of the bills that will start coming in soon, and keep them going while Kathy takes care of her husband and Erica helps with driving Kent everywhere he needs to be and back and forth to the hospital.  They also need to start planning ahead to retofit their home for Urias to return.  Ramps, showers, wider doorways, the list goes on.  So many things to start the process of recovery.

Erica has been baby sitting for us since she was in the ninth grade at Darien High school and she is now a freshman in college.  We met Kathy when we first moved to Darien because she had a small tailoring shop above The Sugar Bowl called Kathy's Tailoring where Chip had all his suits tailored after some weight loss contest left him 2 sizes smaller!!  We instantly liked Kathy, and her 2 kids that we would see around town and in her shop.  Kenny, or Kent as many of you know him was only in 1st or 2nd grade, now an 8th grader at MMS.  Finally we met Urias, always a smile on his face, a kind gentle father with a heart of gold.  Please give them some support to help them through this tough time.

Thank you for all your compassion, The Hurtados are so very grateful, and of course so are we.

Best,
Margot Krotee
