Rock Harbor - Mission Trip to Africa

Donation protected
This summer I have been given an amazing opportunity to be part of a mission trip with my church, RockHarbor and Bridges of Hope International, to South Africa. You may be aware that this country, South Africa is currently home to more than 7 million AIDS sufferers and over 1.5 million orphans.

My last few years have been full of some very difficult times that, through faith and worship, I have been able to overcome. About two years ago, after suffering the loss of my parents, surviving a heart attack and, just recently, losing both of my brothers, I finally realized the importance of faith and community in this world. God has given me a second chance and I am not about to forget it. God has been using me in many ways this past year opening doors to my faith, new friendships and a new family, at RockHarbor.

I have never before felt such a strong calling to make a difference. I have climbed some of the highest mountains in this world and personally witnessed the wonders God has created in his people and all around us. I’ve been touched, moved beyond words, and humbled with all of these experiences focusing me on what God really wants me to do on this earth. This summer, instead of climbing mountains of rock I've been called to climb mountains of faith, human suffering, and love.

From July 25-August 10, our team will be working in a community just outside of Cape Town, South Africa, focusing on two areas of ministry. In our adopted township of Sweet Home we will be offering community development through lessons in spirituality, health, and business. We will also be holding Vacation Bible School for the children and making home visits to share the gospel. The second branch of ministry we will be involved in will occur at the Bridges Academy, an 8th-12th grade boarding academy filled with orphans. At the academy we will assist in teaching lessons, helping with homework, and facilitating sports and recreational activities for the students. We will be offering relief to the long-term missionaries there while loving and building relationships with the students.

If you would like to partner financially that would be an incredible way to support this ministry. I have committed to raise $3500. I am about half way to my goal and could really use your help!

I would like to ask you to partner with me as I head to South Africa on my first mission trip. I definitely will need your support to make this happen in a way that is much more than through donations. Please give your thoughts and prayers to this trip and me with the following in mind:

*That our words, thoughts and deeds are wise and thoughtful
*That we use the gifts God has given us, Compassion, Patience, and Understanding to help those we come in contact with become self-sufficient and full of God's spirit
*That we, as teams and individuals can be effective in what we do, bold in how we approach the challenges ahead of us and courageous in our purpose
*That the people and communities we interact with receive us as it is meant, as people who wish to help them become self-sufficient and focused on Him

God has great plans for each of us and I anxiously wait to see how He transforms my life and yours as you join me on this journey!
