Angie's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
During a Sept. 8th trip to Des Moines, Angie slipped & fell 14 feet off a wooden deck landing on her right foot, fracturing multiple bones in her leg, & shattering her entire ankle.   Four hours later, Angie was in surgery to insert pins into the bones in her right leg to temporarily set it into place & allowing time for the swelling to decrease enough for a second surgery.
On Sept. 13th Angie was discharged from the hospital & moved into her Aunt Jean and Uncle Jerry's home in Marion.  Two days later, Angie met with a local surgeon (in Cedar Rapids) & was back in surgery Sept. 22nd to insert plates to reconstruct the leg & ankle.  Angie was discharged the following day into her mother Linda's care & home in Anamosa.  Unfortunately, the post-op pain proved to be unbearable & she returned to the ER at 2:00 am the morning of Sept. 24th & was admitted to the hospital that afternoon for pain management.October 10th was a bittersweet day for Angie & her family as she eagerly returned for a visit with the surgeon to remove stitches & finally graduate to a cast however Angie's mother (and caretaker) went in for her own scheduled surgery that same day.   Three days later, Angie's Uncle Jerry (who she was currently staying with for post-op care by his wife Jean) also went into the hospital for surgery on his shoulder.Today as October comes to an end & Angie awaits her Nov. 9th appointment with her surgeon to check her healing progress & determine the next steps in her recovery, this page is being created to ask for your financial support along with prayers of courage, patience, hope, & peace.
Once an active & independent young lady working full time as a professional pet stylists (groomer) and living on her own with her two treasured cats, Ava & Ella, Angie is now dependent on the love & care of her loyal family during this unplanned detour of life around this devastating and very painful experience. Angie's determination to "never give up" and to "place it all in God's strong hands" is an inspiration to us all as we travel alongside Angie on her "road to recovery."
As Angie's journey continues over the next four months she will continue to be on medical leave from her job without the income still needed to pay her monthly bills (apartment rent, utilities, car insurance, & medication) not to mention new medical debt that is occurring.
