Welcome to the Catherine Elizabeth Embly Memorial Fund this fund will be used to purchase a CuddleCot to be donated to Labor & Delivery at Meritus Medical Center in Catherine's Memory. Any additional fund will go to support local infant loss groups. What is a CuddleCot?
A CuddleCot is an in room cooling unit that is the size od a small humidifier disguised inside a Moses basket. Having this unit available to parents while they are in the hospital encourges families to spend time with their baby that has passed. This gift allows precious hours for bonding, pictures, plaster molds to be taken and other family members to come and meet the baby before the natural changes that occur in death become more apparent. In addition the baby can stay in the room with the family the entire hospital stay if the family so desires. Every moment spent is a precious gift and as a grieving parent, you never know what your heart may need to continue its healing journey weeks, months or even years down the road.
As many of you know we became those parents on July 24, 2012, when our sweet Angel Catherine was born sleeping at 38 weeks. We had no idea what we wanted to do. We did know that we wanted to spend as much time with our little girl as possible. We did not have something like this available to us but we did spend the time with her. We want to encourage other parents to spend those precious hours bonding with their child. We also want to help other parents in this new journey or their life by making donations to the other local infant loss groups.
