Greetings,
My name is Gregory Brown and I am originally from Watts, Los Angeles, California. I began my collegiate education at El Camino Community College where I majored in psychology. After obtaining a 3.2 GPA and completing the necessary requirements to transfer, I made my way to Howard University in hopes of obtaining a bachelor's degree in Psychology. My overall goal is to become a researcher, investigating education in the black community, gang related activity and health in the black community, with the ultimate hopes of relieving Black suffering. While here at Howard I have worked as an intern with Congresswoman Maxine Waters, played with the Howard club basketball team "“ 1867, worked on several research projects and worked part-time. My participation in research has led me as far as the U.S. Virgin Islands with topics such as "psychophysiological responses to drumming rhythm" and "the reciprocal properties of incremental and self- efficacy beliefs and their effect on the mathematical performance of black elementary school students". Most recently I, along with several colleagues, presented a poster at Howard University's annual Research Day. In hopes of reaching my long term goal of studying overseas, graduating from Howard is a necessary part of that plan. However, I have recently become aware of a balance exceeding $3500 that is required before I can graduate. I firmly believe in the mantra "a person is a person because of people" and I hope that the people are willing to assist me in reaching my goals as they are inextricably linked to the general goals of the people and that is to be a productive member of society. I thank you for any of your charitable contributions and I hope you find consolation in knowing that this financial gift will not be forwarded in vain.
