My sister Lita was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) a disease that will slowly but surely disable her to the point where she can no longer function in her most prized role as a mother to her young daughters.
MS is a disease of the central nervous system. Its symptoms are varied and unpredictable. The cause of MS is unknown and there is no cure. But there is ground breaking treatment that comes close to curing MS and will afford Lita and her family enough time to raise her children and it may even completely HALT the progression of the disease. The earlier in the disease she has this treatment the more likely it is to be a success so time is of the essence.
Unfortunately this is not yet available in Australia and Lita will have to travel overseas for the treatment. She will also be unable to work during the 6 month recovery period following the procedure. As such she is reaching out to the community to help her raise the money she needs.
