Help Kathryn Kay Fight Cancer NOW: An Emergency Medical Fundraiser
Kathy Kay, loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, daughter, sister, community advocate, veteran, respected social services caseworker, and one of the world’s most humorous, loyal, giving, adventurous, fun-loving, resourceful, and truly kind individuals, was diagnosed with an aggressive and extremely rare form of cancer, primary CNS B Cell Lymphoma, on July 27, 2020.
Now, those closest to her are working against the clock to return the same loving kindness she has generously and consistently extended to people struggling with addiction, adults living with developmental challenges, and families with children for over 40 years, but we need your help.
After surgery to remove a brain tumor and chemo, beginning right after diagnosis, a recent scan showed regrowth of the tumor. Now, according to her oncologist, her best option is to immediately enroll in a clinical trial being administered in Boston. Time is of the essence, so we must move quickly!
After being told her insurance would cover participation in the clinical trial and related care, she arrived in Boston this week, only to be turned away. While that might have been enough to send most people packing, Kathy’s large circle of friends, family, and admirers are refusing to give up. The current plan is to use every resource imaginable to make sure Kathy can stay in Boston and receive the care she needs to survive.
Our goal is to raise $25,000 by February 14.
$525 covers the cost of round-trip airfare to and from Boston for a travel companion to assist Kathy.
$300 covers one month of fresh and nutritious food to support health and healing during treatment.
$125 covers one night at an extended stay hotel near the hospital monitoring her during treatment.
$125 covers one week of lifesaving prescriptions necessary to comply with treatment orders.
$50 covers the weekly cost of masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, and cleaning fluids to keep Kathy safe.
Asking for help is never easy but Kathy’s life depends upon it.
Because life is rarely fair, but love a powerful thing, please donate today!
