Youth Club Basketball Program

Hello, I am a secondary school teacher and basketball coach in Red Lake, ON.   I have been coaching basketball for ten years and have seen first hand the very positive impact that it can have on a child's mental, social, and physical development.  Our community currently lacks a club basketball program which is independent of the school system.   This means that children in grades 4-12 are able to participate in an organized basketball program for only a couple of months each year, comprised of only a handful of games.   During the past year I was able to arrange several games for elementary aged students versus teams from two other communities.  This year I am excited about plans to extend the number of games for elementary students and to include club tournament games for high school and elementary aged students.  In order to maximize the number of youth that are able to participate I believe that it is imperative that costs remain as low as possible.  Currently there is no cost associated with playing, other than each player giving a small amount of money to contribute towards purchasing gas if they receive a ride out of town from another parent.  It is important for me moving forward that there continues to be as little cost as possible associated with a child's participation.  I am asking for donations towards the purchase of uniforms which are necessary for our teams to be allowed to participate in club tournaments.  Based on the number of participants from last year, my goal is to raise enough money to purchase 25 jerseys for both the girls and boys teams.  This will allow for extended playing opportunities and experiences for youth in our community.  I can guarantee that your donation will be put to excellent use.  Thank you sincerely for your consideration.
