Fruit Salad is an all girl FIRST Lego League robotics team from Crystal Lake, Illinois. After winning the Champion's Award and the Robot Performance Award at our qualifying tournament, we went on to win the second place Champion's Award at the Northern Illinois FLL state tournament. We have received an invitation to attend the Open European Championship tournament in Pamplona, Spain in May. Fruit Salad is one of eight teams selected from over 14,000 to represent the United States and Canada in this global competition where 90 teams from over 70 countries will be competing. We are honored to be able to participate in this global competition!

We need your help to make it to Spain. The air fare alone will cost our team around $15,000. Any donation of any size will help us make this journey.

FIRST Lego League (FLL) is an international program for youths ages 9 to 14 that aims to increase interest in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math - as well as teach valuable employment and life skills. There are three components to FLL: the project, Core Values, and the robot. For the project, teams come up with an innovative solution to solve a problem relating to the year's theme. The theme for the 2013-2014 season is "Nature's Fury". Core Values include FLL terms such as Coopertition and Gracious Professionalism. In the robot portion, teams build and program Lego Mindstorms robots to complete tasks related to the theme on a 4' x 8' mission table.
