Hello humans! This summer, I am volunteering in Haiti through an organization called Mission of Hope. I will be working as a summer intern, leading visiting groups of volunteers in various construction and ministry projects. In order do this, I must raise, at minimum, $275 for each month of my stay, plus funds to cover my airfare. Hence, this nifty device here and your potential assistance! If you are able to contribute in any way to this effort, 'tis grealty appreciated. Any extra funding I am able to procure that is not needed by MOH to support my personal stay and travel will go directly to the organization itself and to doing things much more important than simply allowing me to serve there.
Most importantly though, I would ask you to pray (or send good thoughts if that is more your thing) for (to) the people of Haiti as they continue to rebuild their communities in the wake of the 2010 earthquake. Although it has been several years since that particular disaster, do remember that suffering doesn't stop when the media does. Disasters expose and exacerbate pre-existing injustice and inequality, and the battle against those entities has no timeline.
Also, if you cannot/do not want to contribute in terms of cashmonies, but you can/do want to write letter or draw a picture or do some other sort of helpful gesture for me or anyone involved, that is equally incredible, and please feel free to contact me. You are also able to make donations directly on the MOH website if you are more comfortable with such things.
