My name is Albrey Brown and in December of 2013 I embarked on a journey to teach myself how to code. It's been an amazing experience and now I hope to turn my hobby into a profession.
THE CAUSE
Recently, I was admitted into Hack Reactor, an amazing program that takes novice developers and helps them master their craft. From June 2nd to September 2nd I'll be coding from sun up till sun down, which oddly, I'm excited about.
Unfortunately I'm unable to fully afford the $17,780 needed to join the program on my own. This is my dream, but because of the cost I am asking friends, family, and whomever else to help me achieve it.
MY MISSION
I created the site Develop Yourself with the hope that my journey will inspire others to take the first step into learning how to code. As a start, the News/Blog sections will serve as a hub for all things amateur coding which will include: resources I used to get started, self-written posts by me (and other writers) explaining basic development concepts, and video walkthroughs with step by step teaching instructions. With time (and your help) this site will evolve into the wikipedia of amateur to professional level programming knowledge, therefore helping people - like you - learn to Develop Yourself.
What You'll Receive As A Donor
BLUE DONOR - UNDER $50:
Blue Donors will receive a thank you card, as well as be placed on the Donor Page of this site. The Donor page will be placed on each site and/or project I work on until the end of time. That way, as my skills grow I can always point to the people who believed in me from the beginning.
BLACK DONOR - UNDER $300:
Black Donors will receive a thank you card, a Develop Yourself T-shirt which will include every name on the donor list (including their own), as well as be placed on the Donor Page.
RED DONOR - $300+
Red Donors will receive a thank you card, Develop Yourself T-shirt, and help building the personal or business website of their choosing. Website building is first come, first serve but I promise to get everyone who's donated site built by the time I'm finished with the program (September 2nd).
