Covid-19 help
This is incredibly difficult for me to do. I have a hard time asking for help, but I also know how much I love helping others. The cycle of giving is a beautiful one.
I am humbly asking for support this holiday season.
In September I lost my job due to COVID-19. I assumed I could get on unemployment in a timely manner to cover my basic needs while I searched for employment. In my case, it wasn’t so simple. Due to the severancepay I received my unemployment has been delayed, until the sum of my weekly unemployment benefit amount adds up to the severance amount. More than 12 weeks of applying for jobs, I’ve used my severance to cover the rent for the last few months. Every time I call the DWS for assistance I am waiting for 2+hours only to be disconnected because their systems are overrun. I cannot find any information on when any benefits will begin or at all.
I have the following needs this next month or two while I apply for jobs and keep fingers crossed about unemployment.
RENT- I have applied for rental assistance throgh the state but the soonest interview availability is December 18z My rent due date is the 5th of December and I’m already behind one months of payment (November) I hate to be a burden on my partner who has also had some financial shortcomings as of late.
MEDS- While I am currently searching for a new insurance policy I am unable to afford my monthly prescriptions, which are non negotiable for my health. Any donations towards this helps.
OTTER Vet Bill- Otter was recently bit badly at the dog park which required stitches and and two lengthy vet appts, $350+I also need help buying her food. Treat or food donations would also be appreciated.
-any extra donations collected will go to assisting my close family member who is out of a home, to help with hotel bills
As an agriculturist it is difficult to find workin my field this time of year while farm work is winding down. Many businesses are hesitant to hire until they see the pandemic’s progress over the next month in Utah. And while I am hesitant to take in a service industry job due to COVID exposure and my health I am applying nonetheless. I’m working hard on my natural dye business to keep occupied while I continue applying. If you are in need of holiday gifts please let me know and check out my inventory of naturally dyed scarves and other textiles.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I am so thankful for my friends. We must all lean on each other during these hard times. I’d you are unavailable to contribute financially that is okay- it is so important that we rely on one another in every way. I’m always a phone call away.
