A New Hope For Doug

Doug needs your help...

For the past 8 years, Doug has suffered from a severe autoimmune disease that the best doctors available to us have not been able to figure out until recently.   In April, a world renowned Rheumatologist at UCLA finally gave him the diagnosis of Adult Onset Still's Disease.

He is plagued by many debilitating symptoms, including systemic inflammation, severe joint pain and swelling, dizziness, high fevers, body aches, chills, malaise, skin rashes, lung inflammation, organ pain, decreased cognitive function, and short term memory loss.

Over the past 8 years, his symptoms have become progressively worse and more frequent.  For the past 3 years, he has had more sick days  than healthy days.   It's like he is suffering from a bad case of the flu every week!

This illness limits his activity, his day to day tasks, responsibilities and often times prevents him from spending time with his son, 3 & 1/2 year old Hendrix.

For those of you that DON'T know Doug,  he is a kind and caring individual who always puts others first.  He is a father, a hard worker, a compassionate stranger, and an unparalleled friend.   For those of you that DO know Doug, you know he would go to the end of the earth to help those in need.  It is NOW, though, that Doug needs your help.

This disease has progressed to the point where it is nearly impossible for him to have any semblance of a quality life.  Most days are physically unbearable and as a secondary result, often become mentally and emotionally painful.

Through trying to find a diagnosis and treatment for his symptoms, he has sought out the best practitioners, physicians, and specialists to help alleviate the discomforts of this unexplained disease.  He has seen Rheumatologists, Immunologists, Oncologists (to rule out secondary cancers as he is a survivor of stage 3 Hodgkin's Lymphoma), Internal Medicine Specialists, Infectious Disease Doctors, Endocrinologists, and more.  He has had bone marrow biopsies, monthly immunoglobulin infusions, and even had his thyroid removed per several doctor's recommendations in hopes that removing the damaged gland would be the cure.

Additionally, he has tried ozone therapy, various diets (paleo, keto, vegan, low inflammatory, etc), fasting, acupuncture, hypnosis, meditation, bodywork from healers, detoxes, vitamin IV infusions, herbs, Ayurvedic medicine, Naturopathic medicine, homeopathy, chiropractic care, and just about anything else you can imagine, including prolonged steroid and antibiotic therapies which resulted in a life threatening intestinal infection that hospitalized him.

Most recently, when he was finally diagnosed with Adult Onset Still's Disease, he was prescribed immunosupressive medications; a protocol to try to reduce the severity of symptoms.  The medications, however, made his symptoms worse, resulting in the need for discontinuation.

Because Doug has exhausted most of the known medical resources available to him, he and I have also exhausted our financial resources in trying to get him feeling better.

We do have one more very promising option though, and have saved it as our last resort due to the cost:  Mesenchymal Stem Cell (MSC) therapy.  The protocol for an autoimmune disease as severe as Adult Onset Still's Disease, is an infusion spread-out over 3 days administering 200 million MSCs.   Large volumes of MSCs help the body repair damaged cells and tissues and also help modulate the immune system.  The collective results of the clinical data show, in many cases, the complete remission of autoimmune related symptoms similar to Doug's.  This gives us much hope that MSC therapy will be curative.

Please help Doug and those that care about him on this journey to getting his health and life back.  100% of these donations will go directly to the cost of his Stem Cell Therapy treatment.  To learn more about Stem Cell Therapy and what Doug will be receiving, visit bioscienceamericas.com.

Bioscience America has provided Doug with an opportunity to begin his Stem Cell Therapy Infusions on September 10, 2018.  Your help in raising these funds before this date is very much appreciated.  We are hopeful this will be the answer to him living a longer, healthier and more enjoyable life.
