Unexpected Medical Emergency

Thank you for visiting Amy's site. As you all may already know, Amy has been in the hospital for close to 2 weeks now with a blood clot in the portal vein that passes blood from the stomach to the liver. This blood clot has debilitated Amy. The doctors are very much puzzled because Amy is the epitome of health. This is a very bizarre situation. The doctors have been attempting to manage her pain with very strong pain medications. She is also being given blood thinners in an attempt to shrink the blood clot. As of today 3/18/2014 the blood thinners are not helping. There is no good time for something like this to happen but this couldn't have happened at a worse time. Amy and Norman work at the same company. The company was just bought by another company which means that both Amy and Norman have a waiting period for insurance, paid time off, and even FMLA. Amy has a long road ahead of her. At this point we are not sure how long she will be in the hospital. The doctors say that it will take a good while for this clot to shrink which could mean that she will be out of commission for several months. This has created a tremendous hardship for them in many ways. The medical bills and living expenses are mounting and their income has been sliced in half. Needless to say, they are in some need of help.
For those of you that do not know Amy, she is the most giving person that I have ever known. She has a heart of gold and everyone that meets her loves her. She would never ask for help but is always ready to give it. She is the mother of 4 beautiful and amazing children. She is passionate and inspirational, not to mention a little crazy!!! (in a good way). She some how talks me into to doing the craziest things like running Ultra marathons. Seeing her go through all of this is extremely difficult and I wish there was more I could do. I know that lots of people would like to help and this is an avenue where they can do so. Any donation is appreciated! If you are a praying person, please continue to play for Amy and Norman as they struggle to find a light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you SOOO MUCH!!
