Day 1 : Depart USA
Day 2 London :
Arrive in
London, one of the world\'s liveliest capitals. This afternoon explore the
Whitehall area including an entrance to the underground Cabinet War Rooms,
which are preserved just as they looked in the final days of World War II.
Learn more about London\'s wartime history by taking part in a Culture Quest
focused on this theme.
Day 3 London :
A morning
sightseeing tour shows you Trafalgar Square, St. Paul\'s Cathedral, the Houses
of Parliament, Big Ben and Buckingham Palace. Enjoy a free afternoon to explore
the city at your leisure.
Day 4 Paris : Journey to Paris under the English
Channel aboard the Eurostar. During the afternoon a local guide shows you the
city\'s most famous monumentsvisit Notre Dame, see the Arc de Triomphe and
stop for a photograph in front of the most famous sight of all, the Eiffel
Tower.
Day 5 Paris :
Journey this
morning to see Louis XIV\'s palace at Versailles, including the Hall of Mirrors.
Then continue to a classic Guinguette on the River Marne. Guinguettes are a
treasured French establishment dating from the early 1900s when workers were
first given a day off on Sunday. Enjoy a traditional French lunch at one of
these riverside restaurants and join the locals on the dance floor as you pick
up the steps to the popular Valse Musette.
Day 6 Paris :
This morning
discover the beautiful art of the Louvre. In the afternoon perhaps discuss
current events with the locals in the Jardin du Luxembourg, visit the Museé
d\'Orsay or take in the street scene from a sidewalk café.
Day 7 Black Forest :
Board the
high-speed Lyria train today and watch as views of the French countryside
transform into the Swiss Alps. When you arrive in Basel, continue by bus over
the German border and into the mystical Black Forest, famous for fairy tales
and cuckoo clocks. Opportunities for hiking and interacting with your enchanting
surroundings abound.
Day 8 Lucerne :
A scenic drive
this morning takes you to Schaffhausen to see the thundering Rhine Falls. Then,
depart the Black Forest and travel south, crossing the Swiss border and
arriving in the charming lakeside town of Lucerne to catch your first glimpse
of its famous covered Chapel Bridge.
Day 9 Lucerne :
An optional
morning trip is available on the world\'s steepest cog railway and cable car up
7,000-foot Mount Pilatus for a breathtaking view of mountainous Switzerland.
Explore Lucerne on an afternoon walking tour that includes the famous Lion
Monument and discover why the Swiss are known as much for their chocolate as
they are their watches during a Lucerne Chocolate Challenge.
Day 10 Depart for the USA.
