James and I, Deb, are 62 years old. Living with us at the time of Hurricane Florence is our youngest son, Johnathon, his wife Mary and their 19 month daughter, Willow. As a result of the storm, our home was destroyed by inland flooding in Pender County, North Carolina. We have lost everything. Also, on our property lived our oldest son, Mark, his wife, Leeann, and their daughter, Kylie, Their house was also flooded, resulting in total loss. We lost two houses, 4 automobiles, 3 tractors and a backhoe. We also lost our out building, which housed all the machinery we use to produce product for sale in local retail outlets.
We have lost home, transportation, and income. Eight of us are currently homeless. We did not have flood insurance, as we are not in a flood plain. We were insured for wind and hail, but that was not the cause of our loss. We are registered with FEMA and are working with other relief agencies, but so far, nothing.
Our situation does not end there. Mary has metastatic cervical cancer, with new tumor growth found this week. She has been through chemo, clinical trials, and is scheduled to begin radiation next week. She was hospitalized today, October 5.
Kylie is 13 years old and has a myriad of health issues,. Pseudo tumor cerebri is in remission, juvenile arthritis, compromised immune system, migraines, and the list goes on.
We need housing to care for our family. Mary needs a home to be with her daughter and husband. Kylie needs a home that is mold free and safe for her to be in.
We are asking for help as time is precious and we need to be able to care for our children and grandchildren. We do not have the means to take on a 20 or 30 year mortgage on new houses and be able to successfully complete loan repayment.
James and I are currently housed in a back room pf a retail store, with the rest of the family being housed by friends. We cannot continue this arrangement for long.
All proceeds from this campaign will go directly into rebuilding homes for our family. Prayers, hugs and good thoughts are also greatly appreciated.
