Hello!
My name is Sierra Sevilla and I am currently a senior Theatre Education major at Emerson College in Boston. I am part Filipino and Chamorro, and I am born and raised on the island of Guam. I left the island in 2010 to pursue further education in the U.S. mainland.
In late 2013, I applied to my dream graduate school in London: Central School of Speech and Drama. In January, I was offered a slot in the incoming Fall 2014 class to study Applied Theatre. Applied Theatre is my ideal major because with this degree I intend to work on using theatre as a vehicle for social and personal development with at risk youth and local communities. I have always believed in the transformative nature of theatre and I feel that this degree will only better develop my skills as an educator and facilitator in the field of community theatre. I can't even begin to express how much I want to attend this program. However, the school is asking for a $1,660 deposit by April 4th to hold on to my slot in the program for 2014. While I am working as hard as I can at my current job in an attempt to come up with this amount, I fear that I will not have enough money to cover the deposit by April 4th. Any amount at all will be of great help to me, and get me one step closer to the degree of my dreams. Thanks in advance for your help!
