O'Conner Anderson III Speed Skater

Donation protected
O'Conner is a prominent youth speed skater from Washington, DC.  He resides in Ward 7 and attends H.D. Woodson Senior High School.  His home rink is the Ford Dupont Ice Arena on Ely Street SE.

With the help of dedicated Special Olympics coaches, O'Conner excelled at the SODC Winter Games in 2007, winning Gold Medals in his first racing experience.

O'Conner has earned medals at the 2009, 2010 and 2011 DC Open Speed Skating Meet and the 2010, 2011 and 2012 DC ICE-a-thon, as well as the 2011 Virginia Commonwealth Games.  In 2011-12, O'Connor became the first speed skater to win the DC Open Meet AND the DC ICE-a-thon competition in the same year.

Recently O'Connor participated in the 2013 World Games in South Korea, where he won two Gold Medals and one Bronze.  He aspires to one day participate in the Olympics, making his hometown, Washington, DC and his country, the United States of America, very proud.

I met O'Connor on the evening of March 11, 2014 at a community meeting.  He is a quiet, pleasant young man who is deserving of our help.

O'Conner's next event is scheduled for March 21-23, 2014 - The Nationals in St. Louis, Missouri.  O'Conner needs YOUR help to get there.  O'Conner needs to raise $2,500 by March 20, 2014 in order to meet the expenses of this event.

I have spoken with O'Conner's family and they approve this effort on his behalf.  O'Conner is working to achieve his dream.  Langston Hughes said "A dream deferred is a dream denied."  There is no reason for this young man's dream to be deferred.
