Emily Kohut's Recovery

On December 28th, my dear friend, Emily Kohut, and her family were driving through Texas from Colorado Springs. Just outside of Sweetwater, TX, the Kohuts were in a head-on collision after an oncoming car tried to pass in a no- pass zone on the highway. Thankfully, no lives were lost in the accident. However, every family member had to receive medical treatment, and Emily had to be life- flighted to Abilene, TX, to undergo emergency spinal surgery for a broken vertebrae.
Emily is currently at Hendricks Hospital in Abilene. She has regained feeling in her feet and legs and is undergoing physical therapy to recover full movement. She is facing a long road to recovery, and will have to be moved to a rehabilitation facility until doctors decide that she's ready to go home.
The most urgent and immediate need is to transport her back to the Kohut’s hometown of Colorado Springs to continue spinal rehabilitation. This in itself is an incredibly expensive endeavor as it will be a medical transport flight that will not be covered by insurance. Meanwhile, Emily and her family remain in Abilene receiving treatment from the hospital.
Emily Kohut was my roommate and one of my very best friends from Colorado College, in Colorado Springs. Her family basically adopted all of our college friend group, and would often host us at their house to have a good ole home cooked meal. This family is constantly pouring out into others, seeking to brighten the lives of everyone they encounter.
