Penny Miller is a member of the Green Thumb Garden Club!!
The Green Thumb Garden Club was organized in 1944, consisting of ladies primarily interested in gardens and being social. Over the years the club has morphed into more of a social club, but our core of loving gardens has stayed the same. Because of our social contacts with each other, when our member Penny Miller became sick this summer we knew we had to support her. This is how our “Go Fund Me” page begins…
Penny has been diagnosed with a rare blood cancer and the only hope for a cure is a bone marrow transplant. This transplant is scheduled for mid February 2020. To prepare her marrow for transplant and ensure her body doesn’t fight her daughter’s donor cells, Penny is undergoing a series of chemotherapy and full body radiation.

Penny has been diagnosed with a rare blood cancer and the only hope for a cure is a bone marrow transplant. This transplant is scheduled for mid February 2020. To prepare her marrow for transplant and ensure her body doesn’t fight her daughter’s donor cells, Penny is undergoing a series of chemotherapy and full body radiation.
Her care after the transplant is so crucial!!! For 60 to 90 days Penny will require 24 / 7 care! She has to go to Hopkins Hospital each day for 6 to 8 hours of transfusions and must never be left alone, as sepsis, rejection and bleeding could occur and must be addressed immediately.
In addition, it has recently been communicated to them that her insurance will NOT cover any prescriptions needed pre-or post transplant and partial payment of expenses related to transplant and months of post transplant care.

Penny’s husband, David, is recovering in a residential medical facility since having a severe brain injury two years ago.
Penny’s children are on board to help in anyway they can, but they too have families to care for with small children.
Penny’s “Go Fund Me”, would help to pay for caregivers, medications, current and ongoing medical expenses related to the transplant.
