It's me again...I am sad to say that since the last time I wrote Bobbie has been told for the 3rd time his cancer has now spread to another spot. I don't really have a lot of words this time...except that it SUCKS!!
Hi my name is Cathy and I have been friends with Bobbie for over 15 years...the day I found out he had his first bout of cancer I cried...I have never met anyone as giving and wonderful as him, I thought LIFE ISN'T FAIR...he had not been married for very long and was the happiest I had ever seen him. Well I just got the horrible news that not ONLY is the cancer back...but he is 1 in 5 in the WORLD that has what he has. He is the type that always wants to help everyone else...and never wants help back...well he knows I won't back down from my goal...I can't watch them struggle to pay bills, child support and travel expenses to Boston for him to get cured!...please read his wifes story...and when you are done, even if you don't have money to donate...please SHARE our page. "In March of 2013, as my husband lay waiting in the recovery room from what we thought was going to be a minor procedure, I heard the words I never thought I would hear and ones that no person ever wants to hear from a doctor. "I am sorry Mrs. Lawson but your husband has cancer." For the first five minutes I do not remember a word the doctor said. I was completely numb. A million things went thru my head like our kids, what will we tell them? HOW will we tell them? and then I managed to get the words out, "will my husband live?"Our vows in sickness and health suddenly had a completely new and terrifying meaning to me. Over the next few months we spent countless hours going back and forth to the doctors, treatments and specialists. Bobbie could not work during his chemo and radiation. In July we discovered that the chemo and radiation had done wonders and reduced the tumor significantly. We were elated! We thought we were out of the woods. However, then Bobbies surgeon informed us that the remaining tumor was in the worst possible location and he would have to have major surgery to remove it.He was in the hospital for ten days and had to come home with a wound vac for a total of ten weeks. The pain and recovery was excruciating. We had to have homecare for his wounds then we were informed that I had to as his caregiver learn how to take care of his wounds as well. All of this while I was still working full time.In October we were given the all clear that Bobbie was cancer free!!!! Bobbie was able to go back to work slowly. We started to get back to what to what we hoped would be normalcy. In January of 2014 we discovered that Bobbie's cancer was back. We were informed by doctors that "the cancer has presented itself in a way that the doctors have only seen five other times in the world."With heavy hearts we knew that the process was going to have to start all over again. We never had a chance to recover from the first round and we are now faced with the terrifying reality of having to go thru this grueling process again. This time the trips will include six months of chemotherapy, going to Boston every day for up to six weeks for radiation and another potential major surgery in Boston."
