Jenny Burns Medical Crisis
In December of 2010 my cousin Jennifer became pregnant with
twin girls. Early on in her pregnancy, Jennifer developed a condition called
Hyperemesis Gravidarum, which she had throughout the duration of her
pregnancy. She was physically sick on a
daily basis while being fed through a pic line. She had a home health nurse
coming to the house on a weekly basis along with numerous hospital stays with
everything from infections to dehydration. When Jenny was 32 weeks into her pregnancy, she
was hospitalized once again for dehydration. While there, the doctors
discovered she was in need of a blood transfusion.
On July 14, 2011 she developed preeclampsia. With her
increased heart rate, the doctors decided it was necessary to deliver her twin
girls that evening, 8 weeks early via cesarean section. Both girls were admitted to the NIC unit for
the next 4 weeks while Jennifer was sent to the intensive care unit for
shortness of breath and erratic heartbeat. Later that day she was rushed to
Christ Hospital where she underwent emergency heart surgery. She was put on a
heart pump and lung machine to keep her alive, and is currently on a transplant
list for a new heart.
As of recently, Jennifer has taken great strides and was
taken off the machines, her body doing its
own work, however she is not yet out of the woods. She is still in need of a
transplant and is still currently receiving home health care. Last week, her husband Michael was laid off due to the economy. As
you can imagine, they are facing insurmountable medical bills.
We as a family decided to create a donation page in the
hopes that some of us who love them, or that are more fortunate may be able to
make a donation, of any size to help them.
If there is anything you can give, $5.00 - $25.00 "“ it would
be forever appreciated.
Thank you,
