Greetings, friends and family. Many of you may already know about my story but I'd like to briefly tell you about an exciting opportunity that has come my way.
In January 2005 I hit a wall, spiritually speaking, and simply turned to God and told Him, "I can't do this anymore". What that wall was is unimportant, but the change He brought into my life is. Through the next couple of years I started spending consistent time alone with Him, listening and allowing Him to move and heal me. It has been an incredible time of deep intimacy with our Heavenly Father. I've been blogging some of my time and thoughts with Him at offthepicnictable.blogspot.com.
As time passed, I noticed a longing in me, a desire to help others move from a churchy, religious relationship with God into a deeper intimacy where conversation flows with healing and love abounds. Along the way he connected me to a very good friend, Tara Mansbridge-Owens, who had recently finished her Masters in Spiritual Direction. After some conversation, the two of us moved into a mentor-mentee relationship that was intended for me to look deeper into this call on my life. After three years, we both decided I needed to move on to a more formal training program.
I have had the opportunity and joy to walk alongside some folk in a direction relationship and have witnessed a deepening of their walk with Jesus. It has confirmed that this is the direction God wants me to move into.
I applied for, and have been accepted into, a one-year Spiritual Direction program with CenterQuest beginning in September 2014. I am excited to move into this program. I know it will be challenging, but I look forward to developing better skills in the realm of Spiritual Direction, with an eye towards helping others walk closer to the One who loves us so deeply.
This will be a long journey so I am asking for help. I need to raise $6000.00 for the tuition. At my age it would not be wise to pay this with debt. I am turning to those who know me to pray and see if God would move you to help me raise these funds. Frankly, this is a little uncomfortable for me but after praying about this and talking to several good friends, I feel led to simply ask and see how God moves to provide this. Please pray for me in this endeavor, and, if you feel led, I would greatly, I mean GREATLY, appreciate any help with the tuition.
