7 Express 2013 Club Nationals

Donation protected
Founded on the basis of friendship, 7 Express was born in 2000. The team was created as a reunification of former High School Ultimate players from across the NYC region, including Bronx Science, Stuyvesant, and Brooklyn Tech.

The name "7 Express" came to fruition due to the common bond the number 7 train gave to NYC HS ultimate players traveling home on the Express line to Woodside, Flushing, or our favorite ultimate haunt of the day...Flushing Meadows Park.

Over 175 different players have proudly suited up and worn a 7 on their chest. We are the oldest team in New York, and one of the oldest teams, throughout any division in the country.

Since our formation, we have drawn talent from all throughout the east coast. Our current roster proudly contains players from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts , Connecticut, DC, Long Island, and of course, NYC.

In 2010, 7 Express hit a bump in the road, with many of its stalwart players opting for retirement or out for injury. The remaining members toyed with the idea of folding the team, but ultimately pulled together a competitive and driven group of friends to give one final breath into the program that they cared so much about. As a "new" team sprinkled with lots of fresh young talent, 7 Express put up a very strong showing against many of the top teams in the region; the future looked bright.

Two years later, before the 2012 season, the leadership core met on the back porch of the party house at 85 Corey Lane for a lengthy discussion on the future direction of the team. Noticing the raw talent that the squad contained, our goal of taking the program to the next level was clearly in sight; but simply making Nationals wasn't enough. Every ultimate player strives for that chance to make it to the big show, to compete against the best in the world...but not everyone gets to do that with their best friends; we wanted to make that a reality. Players relinquished their roles on other top tier teams to come captain the squad and distant teammates made decisions to commute to practices and tournaments; all in the name of friendship.

Now, in our 13th year as a team, we've finally accomplished our goal! We'll have 23 of our 27 players attending the Club Championships for the first time, and while we couldn't be happier, getting all 27 of us to Frisco, Texas isn't easy.

We're asking for your help to offset the costs of hotels, players fees, rental cars, airfare and other expenses for our trip. Anything you can contribute is greatly appreciated.

Throughout the years, we've all seen teams collapse, players migrate and move, all for the chance to make something great out of their playing careers...but at the end of the day, the time you put in doesn't amount to anything, if you don't get to spend that time with the people you care about most. Our trip to Texas is about more than 27 players competing to be the best, its about everyone that has been a part of our family for almost a decade and a half. That mentality is what has kept 7 Express alive for the past 13 years, and we'd love to have you aboard for our journey.
