101 Hole Challenge for MZIMKHULU TRUST
Donation protected
My chambers, 1 Pump Court, has supported the Mzimkhulu Trust since 2002. The Trust is a charitable organisation that raises money for the Lorraine Poswa Mzimhulu Pre-School in Lidobe, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Established in 1994 the school is the focus of the community in an area that was ravaged by apartheid. Because school age is 6 in South Africa the school is not-funded by the state but children will walk 6 miles just to attend. Many of the children have been orphaned because their parents have died from HIV and many have HIV themselves.
The challenge : raise £3000 to help enlarge the basic school building (85 children attend but it could have double that) and buy a bus so children don't have to walk 6 miles to get there.
How : sponsor my attempt to play 101 holes of golf on Monday 23rd June (walking with no cart will be at least 30 miles between 4.45am and 10.15pm).
Why am I doing it? (1) There could not be a worthier cause ; and : (2) I get to do something I really enjoy and hopefully break a world record in the process.
