Help me, help my dad

This is my father, John Horton, someone who has always made me believe in myself and grow. Now it is my turn to believe in him and help keep life simple for him, so he can recover without added stress. He has always been my rock and my number one fan, especially after losing my mother, and now it is my turn to be his rock.
He went to the hospital on the 28th of January this year for a routine same day surgery. On February 5th he went to the emergency room because of severe pain and discomfort. We later found out that there was a complication with a stent placed during the first surgery. However, from the corrective procedure an ulcer in his stomach ruptured and due to not realizing this complication, he was thrown into septic shock by the next morning and required immediate exploratory surgery to correct this. On Valentine's Day he was extubated and could breathe on his own, everyone believed he was getting better finally. However, on the 18th he had to be placed back onto the machine to breathe for him and by the end of the day was diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia and later positive for a pulmonary embolism. On March 1st he had a percutaneous tracheostomy placed to help him breath, because he is not able to do so on his own. On the 2nd they discovered part of his left lung is collapsed.
I am working hard to graduate on time this May, but being the only child and in school it is proving to be a task to make ends meet to pay the monthly bills, as well as soon to be medical bills. He was claiming unemployment, however that is no longer available and disability takes 7-8 months to be processed.
It will be a long journey to recovery for him and while he is recovering it is a fear for me to think of him losing the things he has worked so hard to keep and provide for us. This time has not only taken a toll on us emotionally, but also financially as an only child with my only support system now relying on me.
