It is with a heavy heart that I post this fundraiser announcement. Askng for help and money is not something that comes easy for me.
I have recently been diagnosed with a recurrence of my Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. The tumor is in my throat and is wrapping around the main arteries to my brain (carotid artery). Surgical removal is not an option due to the risks involved with surgery in this area and there will be no guarantee that it won't grow back.
The biopsy results indicate this is a moderate to aggressive form of the cancer and there is limited time to make decisions as the more time passes, the higher the risks due to the location of the tumor and what effects it can have.
The current options include radiation to the throat area, stem cell or bone marrow transplant, all of which could have significant life risks and/or life altering side effects.
I have chosen to try an alternative health clinic outside the US as the US clinics have limited options due to restrictions on alternate therapies by the FDA. Costs for these treatments are all out of pocket and average around $10,000 a week. I will need a minimum of 4 weeks treatment, plus airfare, hotel and food costs while there. In addition, treatment requires returning 2 more times over the next year for shorter periods.
