You and I have the same heart. That's why I'm so excited to share this exciting ministry opportunity with you. I know you'll resonate with it.
Not long ago, God put James 1:27 on my heart. I took it as a challenge "” to explore ways that I could serve the orphan and widow. That's when I found Forever Changed International.
Forever Changed is an organization dedicated to rescuing orphans and giving them a home, love, education, and a chance to grow up knowing that God loves them and has a purpose for their lives. And what I love the most is how they are totally committed to caring for the orphan they know will never be adopted. To not only make sure these children have a home and food "” but that they're loved, appreciated, and given the opportunity to grow into the men and women God called them to be.
As Forever Changed is focused on loving and caring for these orphans, they are also working hard to give people like us the chance to take part in the process. And this coming June, I have the opportunity to join them at one of their orphanages (Dorie's Promise) in Guatemala City "” building relationships with some of these orphans, showing them God's love, and serving others throughout the community.
The more I read stories of individuals, who have been on these trips, the more excited I become "” I can't wait! Just read this from a past team member:
This past December I had the opportunity to travel to Guatemala City. Over the course of our trip, our team not only had the opportunity to care for and love on the children at Dorie's Promise, but with hundreds of other orphaned children in and around Guatemala City.
We visited several other orphanages and spent time with children in the ghetto and those who lived in the city dump. My heart ached as I saw the hardships they endure firsthand. Many of the children we visited were ill, did not know where their next meal would come from, and did not have fresh water, clean clothes, shoes on their feet, or a warm and safe place to sleep. Seeing life through their eyes forever changed my life. And giving them an opportunity just to be loved, to be cared for "“ I'll never forget those smiles!
What began as a pledge to serve the children at Dorie's Promise has expanded to include the sickest, most impoverished, orphaned children throughout Guatemala City and beyond. I know this work is changing lives, and it is a blessing to play a small part.
I'm scheduled to leave for Guatemala City on June 28, 2014. But before I go, I need several things in place. You can play a strategic role in two important ways:
PRAY.
I'm asking the Lord for 30 friends who will commit this trip to prayer. I know our time in Guatemala will be trying, exhausting, and full of spiritual warfare. I need friends who will lift up our team "” and the children "” in constant prayer.
GIVE.
In order to make this trip possible, I need several friends standing with me financially. In total, the trip will cost $1,100. I'm asking the Lord for 11 friends who will join with me in this God-given ministry through a gift of $100 or any combination of donations.
The Bible tells us that when we put our hope in God and give to His kingdom work, we are taking hold of the life that is truly life (1 Timothy 6:17-19). I want that for you just as much as I want it for me.
Please join with me today. By partnering in this work, you are caring for the orphan and the widow. You are serving God's people. And, best of all, your giving is overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God (2 Corinthians 9:12).
