Help Get Mom Back On Her Feet!

Donation protected
My mother, Angela, has been a single mother for majority of my sister and I's life. She is a hard working, selfless, wholehearted individual who always made sure we had food on the table and a roof over our head.

In 2018, my mother was involved in a motor vehicle accident that resulted in her car rolling off the side of the highway. Thankfully, she survived but this accident has altered her life. Soon after, her health started to decline. She tried her very hardest to pay her bills on time but it was extremely difficult due to loosing her job. Fast forward to the end of 2018, my mother experienced an altered mental status and had a seizure. Further testing showed she had, "low intracranial pressure," or what the doctors referred to as a "brain sag." She soon after followed up with various doctors and underwent multiple tests and procedures to find out what was wrong. The doctors were concerned that she may have a rare, autoimmune disease called, Neuromyelitis Optica that effects her optic nerve, brain, and spinal cord. Although the tests came back negative, they proceeded with treatment. She was given IV infusions of a chemotherapy drug to slow the progression of this disease. Unfortunately, nothing was working and she was just getting worse. She started to loose her motor function and every day living became a struggle. She was living in fear that if she tried to walk, she would fall and get hurt. She was completely dependent on my sister and I for everyday care. After multiple doctors, various tests, no one had an answer for her. Under the doctor’s care, her health was rapidly deteriorating. At this point, she has suffered for 3 years with no resolution. I took my mom for a second opinion earlier this year and within one week, she had a definitive diagnosis and underwent extensive brain and spinal surgery. She was accurately diagnosed with Chiari I Malformation and is now in recovery.

She has suffered for 3 years resulting in her being unable to live her life. During these 3 years of suffering, we have attempted to get her services including but not limited to SSDI, Fuel Assistance, Food Stamps, and other federally funded programs to help with her bills and every day living. Unfortunately, these do not cover her housing expenses. She was without an income for years and disabled, unable to pay her property taxes, condo fees, and water/sewer bill resulting in a property and water lien. This means if she is unable to pay the past due amount within the next 6 months, her house will be foreclosed and she will be homeless. The legal fees and interest have made it impossible to keep up with the payments. I have made the decision to create this GoFundMe in an effort to save my mothers house. She was recently approved for disability benefits but it will only cover a quarter of what she owes. I am asking for $15,000 in the next 6 months in hopes that we reach this goal and we are able to save her from becoming homeless.

I thank those who take the time to read this and donate. Any amount is greatly appreciated.
