The Bailey Sanders Fund

Donation protected
On Wednesday, February 19, 2014, my Granddaughter, Bailey Sanders was attacked by a pit bull. It was an unprovoked attack as the dog ran out and grabbed her. To be bit on the arm or leg in one thing, but this dog grabbed Bailey by her face! I do believe the dog was going for her neck, but Bailey tucked her chin to her chest, as she does when she gets scared and the dog bite her in the face. The next paragraph is a bit explicit, but I was you to see what we are facing:
There was a hole in her right cheek, about the size of a silver dollar. There were several lacerations throughout her face, but these are the least of our worries. Her bottom lip was reduce to what I am calling "Ground Beef". It was ripped, torn and there were pieces missing. When I went inot the ER, I was looking into my precious angels mouth through the side of her face. Her bottom lip was hanging in pieces by her chin. This is a sight that I will NEVER get out of my head and I pray NOBODY ever has to experience something like this with a loved one, let alone a child. For this reason, I will NOT include a picture of her. I would like you to see this beautiful angel as we see her.
My son was involved in a motorcross accident back in November where be broke serveal bones, (ribs, wrists, leg) and crushed a vertebrae in his lower back. Due to his injuries, the company he worked for had to let him go. He was in the construction field.
Mom is now off work and is taking care of Bailey, so needless to say, there is no income coming in that household.
As for the dog's owner, there is now insurance at this time. The State is going to step in, but this is going to take several years to go through the process. I know this first hand, as I have a friend who is going through the same kind of thing that happened to his son nearly 3 years ago and it is still not resolved.
The bills are starting to come in and they need to be taken care of as this is going to destroy their credit by the time the State steps in. Not to mention the Doctor visits they are going to have to go to weekly, the food prep that is needed as she can only eat soft food, the fuel to get to the Doctor and just the daily cost of living.
Bailey will be having to undergo several years of plastic surgeries to rebuild her lip and face as time goes on. Right now, the concern is muscular and nerve damage. It's too soon to tell if there will be any as her face is completely swolen at this time. The Doctors did say yeaterday, that she is making GREAT progress as her doctor visits have already begun.
This is very humbling to have to come to you and do this, but I think it's the only way they can get through this tragedy and focus on Bailey without having to worry about how the everyday bills and the medical bills are going to be paid.

Thank you for your time!
